SUPPLEMENTS FOR LONGEVITY
There are many powerful supplements you can take for so many different reasons, but today I will highlight the top 5 that promote longevity
1) NAD
Stands for Nicotinamide Riboside. Is used to raise your cellular levels of NAD. NAD helps your body make more energy. It needs to be taken with resveratrol and fat. David Sinclair is the scientist who discovered it and he take s powder form of it called NMV. Do your own research on it by listening to the Rhonda Patrick interview below. This supplement as some controversy over it now.
2) Avmacol
A form of sulforaphane. Sulforaphanes are found in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables sprouts and are extremely powerful in detoxifying, cellular stress and down regulating negative gene response. You would have to grow pounds of sprouts to get what is contained in these pills
3) Magnesium
Magnesium is essential to every enzyme reaction in the body. The list for what Mg assists in is a page long. Many people are familiar with the Natural Calm form of Mg which can cause loose bowels. There are many other forms and people like Rhonda Patrick focus on getting their magnesium from food. If you diet is not filled with many different types of leafy greens and nuts, then you should consider a supplement. You can try a topical oil to avoid bowel issues.
4) Vitamin D3 w/ K
We all know how important the hormone D3 is. But most people don’t think of vitamins K2 Vitamins D3 and K2 contribute to a good absorption of calcium in the body. In this way, calcium can end up directly in the bones instead of blocking the arteries.
They work synergistically. These fat soluble vitamins are found in grass fed butter and meat which is the best form for absorption. But I still take drops (when I remember!)
5) Pyrroloquinoline Quinone
a powerful antioxidant that supports the growth of brand-new mitochondria, to support cellular energy
PQQ Benefits
Promotes the growth of new cellular mitochondria
Encourages youthful cellular energy levels
Provides powerful cellular antioxidant protection
Helps support delicate mitochondrial DNA
Supports heart health, cognitive health and more
Honorable mention:
Metformin
I am not listing metformin on my main list because it has been found to downplay the benefits of exercise and seems to be beneficial for people with type II diabetes. David Sinclair still takes it, but he takes it on days he doesn’t exercise. Metformin is only prescribed by a doctor and it helps with blood sugar balance.
